I, Amrit Dhakal, a mid level professional, currently reside in Nepal, a mountainous country. Nepal is considered as one of the poorest country in the world but with full of unexploited natural resources. Thus, the county demands trained professionals in different sectors in order to fully utilize the available resources based on the principle of carrying capacity. Among these different sector management is one of them.

I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Studies (B.B. S.) from Tribhuvan University of Nepal in 2004. The main specialization of the course was on Business and Management Studies. I also have completed one year course of Business studies of Master level which is two years course. After my graduation I involved in Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) "Integrated Support Against Poverty -Nepal (ISAP-N) as an administrative, finance and program officer since last five years. Integrated Support Against Poverty–Nepal (ISAP-N) is a christian, humanitarian, development and advocacy organization dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice.

The work experience that I personally gained from this organization backed up to develop my capacity to work as a team member, think analytically and developed the skill of leadership. In addition to this I also perceived an opportunity to learn how to work within a cross cultural and diversified environment. Further, in the project level, I developed a negotiating skill with different stakeholders and handle the flow of financial resources within the organization and project.

Being a professional working in the sector of management it is very important to receive an updated knowledge of new innovating ideas both theory and practical related to management. I realize that I need to overcompensate for my "soft" appearance in order to get my point across. This achievement can only be fulfilled if an opportunity is given to attend the BBS course in the reputed university like CUW Business School. On the other hand exposure is also a factor of success in human life. Thus, my participation in CUW will guide to have a deeper understanding of management concepts and be able to apply those concepts to real life situations. Further, the course may help to develop skills through a comprehensive understanding of business and management across functions and sectors. As the leading International University, CUW, incorporate many lectures in addition to cases that prepare me for all kinds of real business challenges and opportunities which cater well to my career aspiration.

I personally want to devote my future career helping the underprivileged and the poorest of the poor people in Nepal. This can be achieved when we can design and implement the cost-effective technologies since the available resources both manpower and money are limited. Thus, it is important to be a good manager in order to tackle with the existing situation of a developing country like Nepal. One of the best way to be a good manager is to be a graduate of CUW .I am fully confident that the graduates of CUW will lead the future and this leadership experience that I can develop from CUW will have an impact on social connections in the business arena which is the most conducive to my long-term career aspiration.

On the top of this, we, national from the developing country like Nepal, are unable to grab the opportunity to study in a foreign country due to the financial problems. Thus, the quality education of CUW encouraged me to apply for the MBA course with hoping to receive grants/scholarship unless which it is impossible to think of study in abroad. I

I, therefore, would like to reiterate once again that CUW as one of the best place for my higher study which could fulfill my zeal and interest to work in the field of Business and Management. This would also make a significant contribution in developing my skills and build capacity to bring positive changes in the Business and Management discipline. All these factors combined, have motivated me to apply at The Horatio Alger National Scholarship Program for scholarship, I do hope you would consider my candidacy.

Thank you,
