Using my scholarship tags
You probably know that you can find related scholarships by using the search box at the top of the page, clicking a tag below any post, or clicking on a tag in the tag cloud in the right side-bar.
I just want to add a few words about my tags. “Burger King” or “Coca-cola” are pretty straightforward, but some of my tags may be a little unusual, but useful to you. For instance, “essay” might be useful for a lot of students. If a student is strictly average in all respects, essay contests may well be their best shot at a scholarship–so why not focus on them?
A few more “less than obvious” tags are:
collegok: This just means that college students are eligible.
essay: All students have an equal shot. Primary focus is not on academics.
major: Just what you think. Instead of the word major, look for “nursing,” “accounting,” etc.
state: Instead of state, look for NJ, PA, AL, LA, etc.
ez: Just what it sounds like. Most often a company or organization seeking promotion.
Feb 2009: This tag indicates a deadline in February of 2009. If you click it, you’ll be pulling out all of those due in February, but not in order of their deadlines. You can view 2 on the home page, and then click the link for “older entries.”
BTW, if you think of tags I should be using, please let me know.
Thanks
